New CityCat and CityFerry timetables

With the introduction of Brisbane City Council’s 13th CityCat, “Ya-wa-gara”, new timetables commenced on 17.11.08 for:
The Bulimba – Teneriffe CityFerry service has also been extended, with the final service each day now departing Teneriffe at 12.55am.

Other CityFerry services are continuing on their existing timetables.

TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries has won the Medium Business category at the Australian Service Excellence Awards 2007/08 Queensland State Awards Presentation, and a Highly Commended in the same category at the National level.

An initiative of the Customer Service Institute of Australia (CSIA), the Australian Service Excellence Awards recognise excellence, professionalism and outstanding achievements in customer service.


In response to these latest accolades for TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries in its operation of Brisbane City Council’s CityCats and CityFerries, General Manager Greg Balkin said, “Customers are our main focus, we provide the training, development and know-how to our employees so they can provide the best service possible”.

TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries has won the “Operator and Service Provider Excellence” category at the Infrastructure Partnerships Australia (IPA) National Infrastructure Awards 2008.

A presentation dinner for the Awards was held in Sydney on Wednesday 19 March.

IPA Chairman The Hon. Mark Birrell commended TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries' performance, saying that “the operation of Brisbane Ferries showcases the success of the private sector in delivering top quality public services”.

TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries has won the Transfield Services Franco Belgiorno-Nettis (FBN) Award for 2007.

Established in 2001, the Award bears the name of Transfield's Founding Chairman and recognises a Transfield Services business unit or joint venture which best demonstrates the same focus, innovation and passion for success as Mr Belgiorno-Nettis.

Presenting the Award to TransdevTSL Brisbane Ferries' General Manager Greg Balkin on 10 December 2007, Transfield Services' Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Peter Watson, said: "Congratulations to the team for your hard work and dedication in helping make Brisbane Ferries a success, contributing to the success of Transfield Services and most importantly, providing a fantastic service to your customers".

Laurie Cordingley
CityFerry Master and winning author Laurie Cordingley.

Long-serving CityFerry Master Laurie Cordingley has been named a winning author in the One Book Many Brisbanes 2007 Story Competition.

Laurie’s story, My Recollections of the 1974 Australia Day Flood, was one of 10 successful entries in this popular competition, which is run by Brisbane City Council on an annual basis and aims to develop and harness literary talent and to provide residents with interesting stories about the city.


617 entries were received in 2007, making Laurie’s achievement even more notable.

His story and the other nine winning entries have been published in One Book Many Brisbanes 3: Anthology of Brisbane Stories.
