17th CityCat Walan Launched

Brisbane's 17th CityCat  Walan was launched on 17th December 2010 at the Riverside Terminal by Lord Mayor Campbell Newman and Active Transport Chairman Cr Margaret de Wit.

Walan-2

“Walan" is the Indigenous term for the place now commonly known as Herston.  Walan will deliver

an extra 129 stops per weekday and 143 stops per weekend by February 2011.

Walan is the third vessel of the third generation design of the CityCat.  This latest design is more

fuel efficient and emits fewer exhaust emissions, meaning a smaller carbon footprint

which Brisbane City Council offsets fully.

The new Cat means more regular services for all customers and ensures BCC is on

track to deliver 19 CityCats as promised before the end of 2011.  Each new CityCat will carry

up to 400,000 additional passengers per year.
